Every OGC production offers a remarkable collection of compositions… songs that entertain, inspire and encourage through the power of music. That is the OGC vision: Using music to change images and attitudes, build a stronger community, and make the world a better place.
Your donation goes a long way. Here are some reasons to give:
Our chorus community is a family. (Your donation could help in the priceless work of providing a safe space for LGBTQ+ people and allies to gather and make music together! Also, audience members can share in that safe space, some of whom are not out in public!)
Our singers, dancers, and support members pays dues and fees to offset costs. (Your donation could help sponsor a member who might not be able to afford dues and fees, which is $80 for annual dues and $60 per concert, so $200 annually!)
It costs money to perform. (Your donation could help cover costs for venue - about $10,000-$40,000, lighting and sound - about $6,000-$14,000, costumes - about $750 per show, song rights, and physical copies of music - each sheet music is $2-3, so that’s over $400 for one song!)
Orlando Gay Chorus is a volunteer driven nonprofit - with no full-time staff. (Your donation could help us hire an executive director to help bring our organization to a whole new level!)
We are looking to hire our first ever executive director in over 32 years! Due to the work of hundreds of volunteers over the chorus’s history, we’ve been able to take on a lot of the tasks of the Executive Director, however, a full-time executive director can really help bring OGC to the next level as an organization. This is where we need the help of our members, our fans, and our community! We have a goal of raising $175,000 from Foundations and grants. Our hope is to hire an interim Executive Director for about 6 months. Then we’d like to make sure that we cover the position for the first three years to give our first Executive Director time to develop those connections and networks to help raise enough money to fund their own position after that.
The Orlando Gay Chorus is here to serve the Orlando community and beyond! We do this through making music for our twice annual concerts, and by inspiring the LGBT choral movement near and far. We touch the lives of thousands by reaching out through many singing events throughout the year. We lead Orlando’s longest running Toys for Tots drive and help support families in need during the holiday season. Closer to home, we are an extended family for over 150+ singing and support members.
